About the Author, Dave Power

A native of Evanston, Ill., Dave Power won two state high-school singles championships and helped lead his school to three team titles. He was a two-time All-American at Indiana University and competed on the U.S. Junior Davis Cup Squad. He played in five Grand Slam tournaments, reaching the third round in singles at Forest Hills and the semifinals in doubles at the Australian Nationals (now the U.S. and Australian Opens).

As a teaching professional, Dave developed a self-coaching system that has helped thousands of players improve their mental toughness on the court. Over a 40-year career, he has coached four players to national junior titles, worked with two players who reached the Top 50 in the world on the pro tour, and helped more than 50 students earn college scholarships.

A USPTA Master Professional and member of his high-school and college athletic Halls of Fame, Dave is currently a partner in the Windward Lake Club in Alpharetta, Ga. He lives in Atlanta with his wife Eileen, and has four children and three grandchildren.
